The Mental Health Initiative (MHI) was founded 2022 by doctoral researchers and students at the Institute of Physics to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma in academia.
What started as a grassroots initiative has since inspired broader university-wide support, and mental health services are now available through the official Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) network at the University of Rostock.
Trained Mental Health First Aiders provide confidential, low-threshold support, listen without judgment, and help connect individuals with appropriate professional services when needed.
